We will be bringing you more informative and educational posts to help you with your decisions. We thought that we would start with Salmon, because it is a true super food! Salmon is so good for you, as the following list will illustrate. Not only is it good for you, but when cooked right, it’s almost sinful. For a great recipe, check out our baked salmon!
1. Omega -3 Fatty Acids
Thankfully, we are moving away from the (very incorrect) idea that fat is bad for you. We know now, from a ton of research, that not all fats are created equal. There are fats that are bad for you, its true. But – there are fats that your body NEEDS for its essential survival. Salmon is a very fatty fish, in the good way. Omega 3 fatty acids are so important, because they protect your brain. They also lower your blood pressure, protect against heart disease, stroke, and cancer. They act as an anti-inflammatory.
2. B Vitamins
B-Vitamins are not just a hang-over cure anymore. They help prevent fatigue, prevent Alzheimer’s, breast cancer, heart disease, high cholesterol, and sickle cell disease. They can also support memory and weakness in older individuals.
3. Selenium
Selenium is a mineral that is found in the soil and water. It aids in a healthy metabolism. It acts as an antioxidant, protecting cells from free radical damage. It may reduce the risk of prostate cancer.
4. Vitamin D
Sun exposure helps produce Vitamin D naturally in the human body. However, if you don’t live in an area that gets constant sun, you may be deficient in Vitamin D for half the year. Depression is a huge side-effect of Vitamin D deficiency. Vitamin D also protects against osteoporosis and other bone diseases. It supports the immune system, lowers blood pressure, high cholesterol. It helps with diabetes and obesity.
5. Potassium
Potassium is a mineral, which the human body uses for many things. Potassium prevents high blood pressure, stroke, and heart attacks. It is used to treat allergies, headaches, acne, Alzheimer’s, arthritis, bloat, gout, insomnia, muscle soreness, and stress.

6. Protein
Protein is known to help you feel full longer, but protein has many other health benefits too. Protein is a macro nutrient, because every cell in your body needs protein – it’s in your cells! Protein helps heal the body when it’s injured. Hair, skin, and nails are built from protein.
