Halloween Truffles
Oh Hai everyone. It’s just me here, silently squealing inside because it’s my FAVORITE time of year! Why is that, you ask? Well I will tell you! (Even if you didn’t ask.)
It’s almost time for Halloween! It’s almost time for Halloween! It’s almost time for Halloween! I’m even more ecstatic, because this year, Halloween is on a Saturday, which means that I have ALL DAY to soak up the Halloweeny goodness.
The Halloween truffles we’re sharing with you today are rich, chocolaty, tart, and small for portion control. They’re also covered in orange chocolate and Halloween sprinkles to join in the festivities! So grab these ingredients, and have a ball! Your party guests will love them too!
Halloween Truffles
Ingredients
11 oz bag of milk chocolate chips
1/2 cup heavy cream
1 tablespoon light corn syrup
1 bag dark chocolate chips (for coating)
Sprinkles
White chocolate and orange food coloring (optional)
Instructions
- Melt the milk chocolate, cream, and corn syrup in a double boiler on the stove. If you don’t have a double boiler, put water in the bottom of a pot and place a metal bowl on top of the pot. The steam will melt the chocolate. Stir until smooth.
2. Allow to cool in the fridge overnight.
3. Using a small scoop or spoon, form the chocolate into balls, about the size of a ping pong ball. Place the balls on a cookie sheet covered with parchment paper.
4. Melt about 1/4 of the dark chocolate in the microwave using a microwave safe bowl, for about 30 seconds. Do not overheat, or the chocolate will scorch.
5. Roll the balls in melted chocolate and place them on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper.
6. Add sprinkles and decorations to the chocolate before it cools.
7. Optional: Melt some white chocolate in the microwave and add some orange food coloring. Add it to a plastic bag. Cut a small hole in one of the corners of the bag. Squeeze the white chocolate out onto the truffles to create fun decorations.
8. Place back in the fridge and let cool for at least one hour.
9. Enjoy!
