Havarti and Ham Quiche
You will need:
Crust:
1 cup whole wheat flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoon vodka
Fresh chives
3-4 tablespoons water
Filling:
3-4 scallions, chopped
1/8 teaspoon white pepper
1/8 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon thyme
3 eggs
3 ounces ham
3 ounces Havarti cheese
1 1/2 cup skim milk
Pre-heat oven to 425 degrees. Spray a 9 inch pie pan with non-stick spray. Combine flour, salt, butter, olive oil and vodka in a large mixing bowl. Mix until crumbly. Add chives. Add water slowly, until dough forms. Chill pie crust for 30 minutes. Roll out with a rolling-pin and place into pie dish. Blind bake the pie crust for 10 minutes at 425 degrees. Pie weights are optional. Remove pie crust and let sit. Drop temperature to 350 degrees. Whisk eggs and milk together in a large bowl. Add scallions, white pepper, black pepper, salt and thyme. Chop ham and cheese and add to the now cooled pie crust. Pour the egg mixture into the pie crust, over the ham and cheese. Bake for 30-40 minutes or until set.
