Make-Ahead Christmas Freezer Cookies
It’s official! The Holidays are here! It’s an exciting time, to be sure, but it can also be busy and stressful. If you are hosting Christmas dinner or a Holiday party, the tasks can add up fast, leaving you in a panic! With a little foresight and some preparation, you can save yourself the Holiday stress.
How you ask? By making as much as you can ahead of time.
This recipe is a perfect example of something you can make ahead of time and throw into the freezer until your guests arrive. You’ll also have something ready for any guests that pop in unexpectedly.
So go ahead and get your holiday bake on!
Make-Ahead Christmas Freezer Cookies
Ingredients:
3/4 cup butter (1 1/2 sticks)
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup sugar (for rolling)
1 egg
1/3 cup molasses
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
1 teaspoon ginger
1/2 teaspoon allspice
1/2 teaspoon clove
1 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons baking soda
2 1/2 cups flour
1. Cream butter and sugar in a mixing bowl.
2. Add the molasses and vanilla, and mix well.
3. Add the spices and mix until well combined.
4. Add the salt and baking soda.
5. While mixing the salt and baking soda, slowly add the flour, 1/2 cup at a time, until a dough forms.
6. Form the dough into a ball and chill in the fridge for 30 minutes.
7. Cut the dough into 48 pieces and roll into balls.
8. Place on a cookie sheet and freeze.
9. Pull out of the freezer when ready to bake and let sit out for about 10 minutes.
10. Roll in sugar and place on a cookie sheet lined with parchment.
11. Bake for 9-10 minutes at 350.
12. Let cool before serving.
13. Store the remaining cookies in a ziplock bag in the freezer for 3-6 months.
