Make-Ahead (Preservative Free) Sugar Cookies
The Holiday Spirit is in the air and at the grocery store. You can clearly see it in the pre-packaged foods promising convenience and ease in your Holiday baking. From spiced creamers to pre-made stuffing. This year, instead of picking up sugar a tube of the premade sugar cookies to save yourself some time, why not make this recipe ahead of time, and freeze it when you need it!We’re not telling you what to do, but I know that I’ll be skipping the extra preservatives this year!
Rita’s Roll-Out Sugar Cookies
Ingredients:
1 cup butter
1 cup sugar
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup milk
1/2 teaspoon baking soda (dissolved in milk)
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 egg beaten
2 cups flour
This makes a fairly small batch, but you can double it if you wish.
This is the full fat version, no cuts here, mainly because it’s Christmas, and you have to indulge sometimes. Makes 12 cookies. Serving size one cookie.
284 calories, 16g fat, 32.9g carbohydrates, 2.9g protein.
1. Cream the butter and sugar.
2. Add the beaten egg.
3. Add the milk (with the baking soda dissolved in) and the vanilla.
4. Add the flour slowly.
5. Chill dough or freeze and use later. We used parchment paper to wrap the cookie dough.
6. Preheat oven to 350. Roll the chilled dough, cut, and bake for 7-12 minutes or until golden brown.
