Brown Sugar Breakfast Quinoa

Oatmeal is the go to breakfast for the health conscious individual.  It’s good for you in just about every aspect.  I like oatmeal.  It’s tasty.  If there’s anything wrong with oatmeal, it’s that it’s a little lacking in protein.  Also, if it’s not prepared properly, it can be really gummy.  Thankfully, we can offer you an option that is high in protein and always comes out creamy.  Feel free to adapt this tasty recipe by adding some of your favorite flavors!

Brown Sugar Breakfast Quinoa

Ingredients:

1 cup quinoa

2 cups almond milk

1/4 cup brown sugar

1/4 cup roughly chopped pecans

5 servings, 465 calories, 35g fat, 35g carbohydrates, 8.2g protein

1.  Cook the quinoa according to the box’s directions, substituting almond milk for water.

2.  Add the brown sugar while the quinoa is hot, and stir until well mixed.

3.  Chop the pecans and add 1/5 to the top of a single serving of quinoa (1/5 of the quinoa).

4.  Enjoy with a little extra almond milk if you wish.
